The rule
Since September 2015, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe a public holiday on the second and fourth Saturday of every month, under a Government of India notification. The RBI repeats this on its holiday list. On these Saturdays branches are closed and cheques are not cleared. UPI, net banking and ATMs keep working.
